Coinbase ($COIN) had the largest visible buy-side order balance in the Ethereum (ETH) spot market, with $12.2731 million in bids—$1.8339 million more than its sell-side balance.
Ethereum was priced at $2,452.55, while Coinbase’s spot ask orders totaled $10.4393 million, according to order-book data platform Liquid247.xyz on the 21st. Buy orders were about 17.6% larger than sell orders. The figures were published at around 11 a.m. Korea time on the 21st.
Liquid247.xyz also reported that buy orders exceeded sell orders in Binance’s spot and perpetual futures order books, though both markets were smaller than Coinbase spot. The platform said Coinbase spot had relatively deeper buy orders if prices fell. Coinbase and Binance spot markets involve trading actual ETH, while Binance perpetual futures are derivatives without an expiration date, so a buy-side imbalance has different implications in each market.
Order-book depth is the total value of buy and sell orders waiting to be filled. A large number of buy orders near the current price can indicate demand waiting to enter the market. However, orders can be canceled or changed before execution, so these figures are a snapshot. Whether the imbalance translates into price movement must be assessed separately using subsequent trade data.
The current price can also be viewed alongside the cost basis of large holders. TokenPost previously reported an on-chain analysis showing that the average acquisition cost for large Ethereum holders was concentrated in the $1,900–$2,400 range. That average applies to groups holding at least 100 ETH and was compiled by on-chain analyst Murphy. Ethereum’s current price of $2,452.55 is above the top of that range. The datasets use different populations and methods, however, and cannot be directly compared; the order-book figures also do not show trading activity by large holders.
